Top 10 locations for Family Portraits in Vancouver B.C
With almost every family photo enquiry I receive, I get asked “where are your favourite locations for portraits in Vancouver?”. I have a mental list of all my favourite Vancouver locations & I thought it would be fun to share them and also explain why I love each location!
So here is my curated list of My top 10 Locations for Family portraits in Vancouver!
1. Whytecliff Park West Vancouver, BC - West Vancouver Family photographer
One of the biggest reasons I love Whytecliff Park so much is because this location can change so much depending on the tide. We can shoot with the tide way out, among the rocks & Ocean. Or we can be at Whytecliff during High tide and do our session on the edge of a cliff with the most epic view of West Vancouver. The sunset at Whytecliff is also incredible & makes for the dreamiest backdrop.

2. Stanley Park Vancouver BC - Vancouver Family Photographer
I know this one may seem like an obvious location, but it needs to be on the list!! I love Stanley park because of how versatile it is and how many little spots are hidden throughout the park. I feel like I could Photograph 20 different families at Stanley Park & you would never know it was all done there. A specific favourite spot is Third Beach. Third beach 100% gives me my favorite sunset in Vancouver. There’s just something about third beach that gives off the most golden sunset with the city of Vancouver illuminated in the background. Stanley park to me is just endless epic forests, beaches, and hidden nooks.

3. Jericho Beach Vancouver B.C - Vancouver Family photographer
I love Jericho beach in Vancouver because it is SO child friendly. No rocks to climb, or trails to the beach. Once you arrive its sandy beaches with the city in the background. I love Jericho beach at Sunset, and I LOVE jericho beach on a cloudy fall day. I would say that Jericho beach is easily a top 5 location for me.

4. Caulfield Park North Vancouver B.C - North Vancouver Family photographer
Caulfield park is a hidden Gem. I’m actually not really sure if many people know its there. Caulfield beach is hidden in a residential area right near Lighthouse Park. At Caulfield park you get incredible cliffs and rocks overlooking the Ocean. Its easily accessible and such a great location if you’re wanting a strong Vancouver Vibe. I am always so thrilled when families are willing to make the drive out of the city to be photographed at Caulfield park!

5. Gastown Vancouver B.C - Vancouver Family Photographer
I always love shooting around the city. Such a different vibe than being in the forest or by the Ocean. One of my favourite things about photographing Families right in the city of Vancouver & in Gastown is just walking around, capturing those candid moments and catching some interesting light. I also know of a few rooftops that have the best city views!
6. Iona Beach Richmond BC - Richmond Family Photographer
Iona Beach is a little outside of the city, but so worth the drive. You get miles of epic beach, a long boardwalk, grassy areas and I would almost guarantee that you’ll see a plane or two take off overhead. My recent Family sessions at Iona beach also delivered some pretty dreamy sunsets.
7. Tower Beach Vancouver B.C - Vancouver Family photographer
Tower beach is BEAUTIFUL! I have actually only photographed a family there once, but I can’t wait to go back and discover more about this location. There is a pretty intense 500 stairs down to the beach (like there are actually 500 steps….Which makes for a bigger trek uphill back to your car), but the climb is worth it. Tower Beach is kind of hidden right by UBC & Cecil Green House right in the middle of the city down a little from Wreck beach. Tower beach is an explorers dream location. Lots of rocks, driftwood, large logs to climb & an old War tower. The history of Tower Beach is really cool, worth a read up!

8. Pitt Lake Pitt Meadows Vancouver B.C - Pitt Meadows Family photographer
Pitt lake feels indescribable to me - I don’t know how to put in to words how gorgeous this location is. Pitt Lake feels like this dreamy wet land surrounded by the most incredible mountains. There is just something so so special about Pitt Lake here in Vancouver.

9. Golden Ears Provincial Park Maple Ridge BC - Maple Ridge Family Photographer
Golden Ears provincial park is a little bit of a drive outside of the city, but it is worth every single minute in the car. Think - Deep forests, glacial lakes, mountain views. Hidden in Golden Ears park is also Alouette Lake, which really should be mentioned on its own!

10. Centennial Beach Delta BC - Delta Family Photographer
And last but so not least on my list of favorite locations to photograph families in Vancouver - Centennial beach in Delta BC. This beach is a little bit of a drive out side of the city, but I promise you its worth it! Centennial beach has delivered some of my favourite sunsets. Think tall breezy grasses, miles of driftwood and of course gorgeous ocean views.
